Mustards was founded by Ron Smith in 1971 with the concept of bringing the public a high-quality restaurant where careful attention to detail goes into the preparation of all our products. The barbecue ribs, chicken, beef and pork are all smoked and cooked slowly over apple and cherry woods to seal in their naturally sweet juices and flavor. This, combined with our secret original, "rib-tickling" barbecue sauce, affectionately known as "the Sauce", makes for an award-winning dining event.

Mustards has a national reputation for Award-Winning BBQ, and has earned the title, "Best Baby Back Ribs Served by a Restaurant in America" at the national Rib Cook-Off in Cleveland, Ohio. Numerous awards of all kinds have been received, such as "Best Sauce in the West" at the Reno, Nevada Cook-Off as well as judged "Best Ribs in Des Moines." Established in 1975, Felix & Oscar's is Des Moines premier Chicago style deep pan pizza restaurant and while it is our "Pan Pizza" we are known for, we take pride in the quality of all the food we prepare and serve. Papa Chubby’s got started at my grandfather’s cabin in 1973. The cabin’s nickname was Chubby’s hideaway, but as a 4 year old it was known to me as Papa Chubby’s. The cabin was host to some of the best family gatherings in history, where cuisine was cooked inside steel drum cookers and pit style BBQ’s. It has long since been a dream of mine to have my own “Papa Chubby’s” to share with my friends and family.  Our goal is to serve the best  tasting BBQ in the area. We pride ourselves in doing things the old fashioned way and follow age old recipes passed down from generations. We hand rub and slow cook all our meats with great care and attention to detail. Larger cuts of meat, such as pork and brisket, are cooked overnight over hickory and apple wood, without being dried out. Our meats are cut to order and only shredded when needed as to preserve the quality of our hard work.

We make our own rubs and sauces, and we also sell our sauce in the restaurant. Our flavors include our regular sauce, which is a sweet and smooth and our St Louis red, full flavor with a slight tanginess. Next, we have our Sassy Sauce, which is enhanced with a little kick of spice to it giving it a mild/medium heat. We also have our More Than Sassy, which is still smooth and tangy, but with a bigger kick than its aforementioned cousin. Last we have our “drag you’re a** across the floor cause it’s so fricking hot sauce.”  This sauce is not for the faint of heart as it is extremely hot.

The restaurant itself seats 75 comfortably with booths as well as tables. Our services include dine-in, carry-out and of course, catering. We can put together a menu for any occasion and we are not limited to the items on our menu. We often cater business functions as well as the occasional square dance.
